Executive Committee - Student Liason

Shirley Shen, B.Sc.

Shirley Shen is currently a MSc student in the Kemp lab at the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Otago in New Zealand.

Shirley’s research involves using phosphoflow cytometry to analyse T cell signalling in patients with colorectal cancer. She works on primary tissue and blood samples obtained from colorectal cancer patients from Dunedin hospital and phosphoflow cytometry allows her to analyse signalling in a heterogeneous population of cells at a single cell level. She has a keen interest in cancer immunology, particularly in understanding the complex immune response in colorectal cancer using novel techniques, and hopes her research will be able to contribute to the field of cancer research and in improving treatments for colorectal cancer in the future.
